Froggy's Florida

My wife has often said that we are living in paradise. I couldn't agree more. Life in the Daytona area is just wonderful. We don't have the traffic of Houston, the smog of Los Angeles or the crowds of New York. We have warm days, abundant sunshine, soft nights, palm trees swaying in tropical breezes, and water - lots and lots of water. Florida is a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water. This helps make Florida the boating capital of the nation. More boats are registered in Florida than any other state. This combination of geography and climate provides some of the best boating in the world.
Now that I am retired, I have the time to do some of the things I have always wanted to do, like going to college and boating and fishing. Cruising is a recreational activity that consists of getting in your boat and going somewhere. Inland there is a chain of lakes and rivers that offer some of Florida's most breathtaking scenery, a part of Florida often overlooked by the tourists. You can launch a boat right down the road in Deland, and cruise all the way to Jacksonville and out into the Atlantic, a hundred mile plus journey through some of the most spectacular and tranquil scenery in Florida. We also have the Intracoastal Waterway, maintained and regulated by the Federal government, that runs from New Jersey south along the east coast, around the tip of Florida, then north and west to Brownsville Texas. Along the way are numerous marinas, restaurants, and bars where you can tie up to a pier and eat a meal or get a few beers. Many of the marinas offer overnight lodging, fuel, ships stores and other convenient services for the traveling boater. And, of course, some of the world's best fishing is available right here in Florida.
